Durham Tees Valley Airport is located five miles east of Darlington, in North East England. It is one of the UK's smaller airports and is mainly used for chartered flights, although there are a growing number of scheduled flights available. The airport is owned by a consortium of local authorities and Peel Holdings PLC.
Previously called Teesside International Airport, it was renamed Durham Tees Valley Airport on 21 September 2004 as part of a redevelopment plan.
A new bus service, the Sky Express, was launched in May 2005, connecting the airport with Darlington's train station and town centre, operated by Arriva North-East. Travel is free for passengers with a valid air ticket on the day, or £2 without. The service runs hourly throughout the day.
